Following his freshman season, Bell was selected in the 37th round of the 2008 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Indians but returned to Walters State. He was drafted for a third time in 2009, going in the 14th round to the Texas Rangers. After a standout summer in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League—highlighted by a nine-inning no-hitter with the Cotuit Kettleers—he signed his first professional contract and joined the Rangers organization.
After recovering from Tommy John surgery, Bell was traded to the Detroit Tigers in 2016. He made his Major League debut on May 10, 2017, against the Arizona Diamondbacks and appeared in 31 games for the Tigers during the 2017–18 seasons.
Bell later played in the Atlanta Braves organization in 2018 before spending two seasons (2019–20) in the Korea Baseball Organization with the Hanwha Eagles. Following his playing career, he served as a Division I pitching coach at Georgia State University in Atlanta.
He has since transitioned into his role at GSI, where he works as a draft advisor and assists with pitcher recruiting and development.
